Texas Colorado RiverWith its head waters in Big Spring, Texas the Colorado River flows over 900 miles through Texas where it meets the Gulf of Mexico in Matagorda. The Lower Colorado River Authority manages the bottom 600 miles of the river. This is not the same Colorado River that flows through the Grand Canyon; our river does not leave Texas, which makes it the longest river running through one state.
